InnerVisions HealthCare Opens Brand New South Clinic
InnerVisions HealthCare, a free unplanned pregnancy and STD medical clinic in Des Moines opened a new clinic in south Des Moines in late October. The new clinic is located at 500 Army Post Road. This is a big milestone in IVHCare’s short eight-year history.
“During my Open House remarks, I made reference to the metaphor of ‘stretch marks’—an appropriate image for a medical clinic serving pregnant women—which referred to the professional challenges that the board, staff, volunteers, and supporters faced. We certainly stretched ourselves in many different ways, and the women of south Des Moines will now benefit from that,” said Theresa Welch, RN, Executive Director of InnerVisions HealthCare.
The demolition and build out took about six months and it produced a 5,400-square-foot new clinic, with three exam rooms, two ultrasound rooms, two consultation rooms, a classroom, a nurses’ station, a meditation room, and additional storage. Blackbird Investments, LLC generously donated their time and expertise as the Construction Manager, and many local vendors participated in the build out.
“Throughout my entire 30-year medical career, serving all people—especially those most vulnerable and at- risk—has been a personal commitment of mine, and so I’m honored to be involved with InnerVisions as we expand the impact of women served, now on the south side,” said Gregory McKernan, DO, FCP, CFCMC, Medical Director of InnerVisions HealthCare and Owner of Vitae Family Care Clinic in West Des Moines, provider of OB, NFP, and family practice services.
InnerVisions HealthCare provides women and men facing unplanned pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases with compassionate and truthful information to educate, empower, and encourage them to live their best life, specifically around their sexuality and knowing their bodies so they can be fully informed and make a decision that supports that fully actualizes their femininity.
